Trossard scores winner
Leandro Trossard scored the only goal of the game as Brighton recorded their first home win of the season and piled on the misery for Tottenham with a 1-0 win at the AMEX.
The match
The Belgian placed his shot past Hugo Lloris in the 17th minute after a cut-back by Pascal Gross, who had earlier hit the post.
Spurs were without star striker Harry Kane and missed his presence as they were comprehensively outplayed in the first half and were fortunate that the hosts weren’t more clinical in front of goal.
In the second half, Spurs pushed for an equaliser but only created one clear cut chance with Vinicius’s strike saved by Robert Sanchez. In the final minutes, Aaron Connolly somehow had a shot cleared off the line by Toby Alderweireld with the goal gaping.
Stats
Graham Potter’s side have now won three of their last four in all competitions and kept three clean sheets.
Jose Mourinho has lost all three of his away league games at Brighton.
What it means
Brighton’s first home win of the season puts them seven points clear of the Premier League bottom three.
Spurs are in sixth place and are six points off the top four with a game in hand.
