It is only Regionalliga West that has survived the Coronavirus winter outbreak with the rest of the leagues suspended in the German fourth tier.

Situation at the top

At the halfway point, RW Essen lead the pack by four points ahead of Borussia Dortmund II. This is despite drawing 0-0 to SC Wiedenbrueck last weekend in a frustrating match for the league leaders.

Dortmund II cut the gap at the top after their 2-1 win over Alemannia Aachen. 19-year-old Ansgar Knauff scored twice for the hosts.

It was only Enrico Maaßen’s side second win in five games, after three draws. They crucially have a game in hand over Essen.

Fixtures

Dortmund II travel to FC Köln II on Saturday as they aim to keep their unbeaten away run going. They have won seven and drawn one of eight this season away from home, scoring 21 and conceding three. Köln II lie seventh in the table.

RW Essen also hope to keep their brilliant home record going, they have won nine of 10 at home, scoring 28 and conceding eight. They face bottom side Bonner SC, who have lost 11 of their last 13 games.
