Volley Lube win tiebreak match

Volley Lube came back from two sets to one down to beat Milano 3-2 (25-21, 30-32, 23-25, 25-22, 15-10) and win their fourth straight game in the Italian SuperLega.

Kamil Rychlicki scored 23 points for the visitors, including two aces, while Yoandy Leal collected 19.

Yuki Ishikawa scored 25 points for Milano, while Tine Irnaut added 20.


What it means

Ferdinando De Giorgi’s side take two points from their win after dropping two sets and sit second with 41 points, five points behind Perugia with a game in hand. They have won 15 of 17 matches in the league.

Milano are fifth with 27 points.


Perugia extend lead

Perugia returned to winning ways with a comfortable 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-22) win against Porto Robur Costa.

Once again the Block Devils were missing Roberto Russo and Aleksandar Atanasijevic but they did not miss either and extended their lead at the top by an extra point.

Perugia player Oleh Plotnytskyi was named MVP of the match with 17 points and two aces


What it means

Vital Heynen’s side have won 15 of 18 league matches, while Porto Robur Costa are third bottom with three wins from 17 games.


Trentino win ninth consecutive game

Elsewhere, Trentino ended Vero Volley Monza’s seven match winning run in the Italian SuperLega with a 3-2 tiebreak win (25-16, 20-25, 25-17, 20-25, 15-13).

It was Trentino’s ninth consecutive win in the league.

Ricardo Lucarelli was named MVP after scoring 21 points for the winning side.


What it means

Trentino earn two points for the win and sit third with 35 points, while Monza are fifth.
