North London derby

It is the North London derby this weekend as top of the table Tottenham host 14th placed Arsenal in the Premier League in front of 2000 supporters.

Spurs form

Spurs lost the opening game of the season 1-0 at home to Everton but since then, have won six and drawn three of their nine league games.

They top the table on goal difference ahead of Liverpool and are eight points clear of their neighbours, Arsenal. In a difficult run of fixtures, Jose Mourinho’s side have beaten Manchester City and drawn against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The hosts have had mixed fortunes at home this season, beating Man City and Brighton but have suffered last minute heartache as they threw away a 3-0 lead to draw with West Ham and a controversial equaliser to Newcastle.

Harry Kane has scored 10 goals in 11 games against Arsenal, including this famous strike in 2016.

Arsenal form

Arsenal have only won four times in 15 matches on their travels in the Premier League under Arteta and have scored fewer than two goals in 11 of those.

However, they did beat Manchester United at Old Trafford last month and lost narrowly at the Etihad in their other away game against a ‘top six’ side.

Head-to-head

Tottenham are unbeaten in their last six Premier League home games against Arsenal (W4 D2) since a 1-0 defeat in March 2014. 

Spurs won 2-1 in their most recent meeting back in July, while they drew 2-2 at the beginning of last season.

Spurs have dropped 42 points from winning positions in Premier League games against Arsenal, more than any side has lost against another in the competition’s history.

This will be the lowest in the table Arsenal have been going into a North London derby since August 1993, when they were in 21st after one game.
