Catolica stay top

Fernando Zampedri scored twice as Universidad Catolica came from behind to beat Cobresal and stay top of the Chilean Premier Division.

Franco Ragusa gave the visitors the lead in the 40th minute, but Edson Puch was brought down in the penalty area and Zampedri equalised from the spot for Catolica.

The Argentinian striker bagged his brace in the 79th minute to score his 13th goal in the championship and keep his side at the top of the league with 42 points – three points ahead of Union Espanola.

Espanola go second

Union Espanola jumped above Union La Calera to go second in the table after they beat their rivals 3-2.

The hosts raced into a 3-0 lead at half-time thanks to two goals from Christian Palacios and one from Mauro Andres Caballero. Thomas Rodriguez scored twice in the second half for La Calera, but they couldn’t find an equaliser.

Palacios has now scored 14 goals this season – the second most in the division behind Joaquin Larrivey.

Espanola are unbeaten in their last seven matches, winning six of those. Meanwhile, La Calera have lost their past two games.
