Leicester top of the league

Leicester are the new leaders of the Premier League after they beat Wolves 1-0 at the King Power Stadium.

Jamie Vardy scored a 15th minute penalty after a spot-kick was given against Max Kilman for handball. It was his eighth league goal in just seven games.

Leicester were awarded another penalty in the game – their eighth of the season – but Vardy was denied by Rui Patricio.

The win was Brendan Rodgers’s side sixth successive win in all competitions, and it’s a better start for the Foxes than they managed when they won the title in 2015/16.

Leicester face Liverpool in their first game back after the international break – they are a point ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s side in the table.

Wolves have 13 points from eight games and are in ninth – they have only scored eight goals so far this season.

Man United back on track

Manchester United got a much-needed win against Everton in the Premier League, coming back from behind to win 3-1.

Bruno Fernandes scored twice for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, who fell behind to a Bernard goal in the 19th minute.

Fernandes scored his 12th and 13th league goals for Man United on Saturday, only Mohamed Salah (14) has scored more goals since the Portuguese’s debut.

Edinson Cavani scored his first Man United goal in added time on the counter attack.

It was only the fourth time United have beaten Everton at Goodison since 2008 and the win avoided United making their worst start to a top-flight season since 1989/90.

Everton lose again

Everton have lost three successive league games and drop down to seventh in the table while United are 14th with 10 points from seven matches.

Richarlison was missing through suspension again for Everton. The Toffees have never won a league game without the Brazilian, since he arrived in 2018. Everton had just one shot on target in the game.

Chelsea hammer Sheffield United

Chelsea came from behind to score four past Sheffield United, leaving Chris Wilder’s side bottom of the Premier League with just one point from eight games.

David McGoldrick gave the Blades the lead in the ninth minute with a flick from close range. Tammy Abraham equalised with a shot that bounced past Aaron Ramsdale.

Hakim Ziyech registered two assists for the Blues – his first scored by Ben Chilwell at the back post to put Chelsea in front.

Chilwell has been involved in four goals in three Premier League home games – 2 goals and 2 assists.

Thiago Silva headed in Ziyech’s free kick to make it 3-1, before Timo Werner completed the rout in the 80th minute.

Chelsea are fifth in the Premier League table. with 15 points from eight games.

Kane leaves it late

Harry Kane scored an 88th minute winner against West Bromwich Albion to send Tottenham Hotspur second in the table.
