Arsenal end drought

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang scored a second half penalty as Arsenal beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League for the first time since 2006.

In a match short of goalmouth action,  it took a foul from Paul Pogba on Hector Bellerin in the box in the 69th minute to create a major goal-scoring chance.

Aubameyang ends barren run

Aubameyang sent David de Gea the wrong way to score his first goal in six Premier League games and give Arsenal their first away win against a ‘big six’ side since 2015 – a run of 29 matches. Aubameyang’s penalty was his first shot on target in his past three league games.

Stats

The Gunners now have 12 points from seven games, while United sit 15th after seven points from six games. It’s United’s lowest tally at this stage since 2013-14.

It was not a happy 100th game for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with United ending their four match unbeaten run in all competitions and failing to win at home in the Premier League for the sixth game running.

Thomas Partey won possession 11 times in the match, completed three successful take-ons and had a pass accuracy of 93%.

Man United have failed to win any of their opening four top-flight games at Old Trafford for the first time since 1972-73 and have also conceded five penalties in their past seven league home matches.

Donny Van de Beek was introduced in the 75th minute and had three touches in Arsenal’s box – more than any other United player.
