Everton face Liverpool at Goodison on Saturday in the Premier League with the Toffees hoping to end a decade-long drought for a derby win against their city rivals. They last beat Liverpool in 2010, when David Moyes was manager.

Everton in form

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have won all four of their Premier League matches so far this season, their best league start since 1969/70, a season they won the title.

Everton top the table, having scored 12 goals in their four games with new signings Abdoulaye Doucoure, Allan and especially James Rodriguez all making impressive starts.

Allan, Andre Gomes, Richarlison and Seamus Coleman are all expected to be fit after having fitness troubles. Yerry Mina is a doubt.

James and DCL

Rodriguez has created 12 chances in his first four matches for Everton, only behind Heung Min Son with 13 and Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah on 14. The Columbian has scored 3 goals and made 2 assists.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, winner of September player of the month, leads the way with goals in the Premier League, scoring six in four and has nine in all competitions for Everton this season. He has never scored against Liverpool though, making 10 appearances and seven starts without a goal.

Liverpool to bounce back?

Jurgen Klopp will be looking for a response from his team after their 7-2 defeat against Aston Villa before the international break.

They’ve conceded 11 goals in their first four games, whilst also scoring 11. The champions have drawn at Everton in their last three visits, with all finishing goalless. The last goal they scored at Goodison was by Sadio Mane in 2016, a 94th minute winner just before Christmas.

Alisson is still injured and Adrian is expected to replace him again. Sadio Mane and Thiago Alcantara both tested positive for COVID-19 and missed the Villa game but they are expected to be back for the game.
