Penang FA have been promoted to the Malaysian Super League as champions after a 4-0 win over Kelantan United on Friday evening.
They return to the top-flight after a three-year absence, in which they were almost relegated to the third division of Malaysian football in 2018.
The match
Manzoor Azwiraโs side took the lead through Lee Chang-Hoon in the 18th minute. A corner was swung in to the far-post and the winger was left unmarked in the box to finish from close range.
They then doubled their lead just two minutes later when Al Hafiz Harun finished off a team move that pulled the Kelantan defence apart.
Bobby Gonzales made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute, finding space between two Kelantan defenders and squeezing his shot past the goalkeeper.
The scoring was completed when top-scoring Brazilian Casagrande fired his shot off the post and into the net to bag his ninth goal in just 10 games. He leads the golden boot race, one ahead of team-mate Endrick Santos with just a game remaining against Terengganu FC.
English goalkeeper Samuel Soverville , who was born in Bracknell, kept his fourth clean sheet of the shortened 11 game season to lead the clean sheet statistics with one game remaining.
